¹⁴ For the love of Christ ^(A)controls us, because we have concluded this: that ^(B)one has died for all, therefore all have died; ¹⁵ and he died for all, ^(C)that those who live might no longer live for themselves but ^(D)for him who for their sake died and was raised.

¹⁶ From now on, therefore, ^(E)we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. ¹⁷ Therefore, if anyone is ^(F)in Christ, he is ^(G)a new creation.^{[a] (H)}The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. ¹⁸ All this is from God, ^(I)who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us ^(J)the ministry of reconciliation; ¹⁹ that is, in Christ God was reconciling^[b] the world to himself, ^(K)not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us ^(L)the message of reconciliation. ²⁰ Therefore, ^(M)we are ambassadors for Christ, ^(N)God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. ^21 (O)For our sake he made him to be sin ^(P)who knew no sin, so that in him we might become ^(Q)the righteousness of God.

^2 (A)And behold, a leper^[a] came to him and ^(B)knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” ³ And Jesus^[b] stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. ⁴ And Jesus said to him, ^(C)“See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, ^(D)show yourself to the priest and ^(E)offer the gift that Moses commanded, ^(F)for a proof to them.”

The Faith of a Centurion

^5 (G)When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, ⁶ “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” ⁷ And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” ⁸ But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but ^(H)only say the word, and my servant will be healed. ⁹ For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant,^[c] ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” ¹⁰ When Jesus heard this, ^(I)he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with ^(J)no one in Israel^[d] have I found such faith. ¹¹ I tell you, ^(K)many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, ^12 (L)while the sons of the kingdom ^(M)will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place ^(N)there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” ¹³ And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you ^(O)as you have believed.” ^(P)And the servant was healed at that very moment.

Jesus Heals Many

^14 (Q)And when Jesus entered Peter's house, he saw ^(R)his mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.
